Kupala Night Festival in Belarusian Alexandria to draw participants from seven countries


- Kupala Night Festival (Alexandria Gathers Friends) will be held in the town of Alexandria, Shklov District on 6-7 July, Oleg Stelmashok, the head of the culture department of the Mogilev Oblast Executive Committee, said at a session of the regional administration, BelTA has learned. 

The festival will be themed around the three-year Native Land program. It will bring together representatives of Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland. The delegations of the participating countries will showcase national folk art and decorative arts. 

The companies of the consumer cooperation system are preparing a big food fair and catering facilities for at least 3,000 seats. The trade stalls will stretch for 1.2km. 

The Art of the Young program is designed to demonstrate sporting, artistic, scientific and technology achievements of young people. The program will include an interactive music program “The Fairytale About Magical Flower”, Generation NEXT concert of young artists, concerts of author's songs and quests. Education and social institutions of Mogilev Oblast will put together a fair of hand-made products. 

The circus art program promises to be very interesting and exciting. The Kulagin Mogilev DOSAAF flying club will organize demo flights. The Mogilev regional center of physical education and sport will set up sports grounds. Kupala Night Festival will also run photo zones and attractions for the little ones. 

Minsk Tractor Works and the Belarusian confectionary-bakery Domochai will display their products. The Festival of Kvass will celebrate the beverage made using a special recipe.

 The festival will feature the Book Fair and Publishing House stands with print and paper production demo zones. The program will also include presentations of new books and journals, autograph sessions and contests. 

On 6 July, the small stage will host the opening ceremony and concerts featuring Belarusian and foreign artists. A youth disco will be held on the night between 6 and 7 July. 

A gala concert and a firework display will be the main highlights of the first day. Interactive zones will stay open through 7 July. The main stage will host a ceremony to honor the best agricultural workers of Mogilev Oblast, and a concert featuring People's Artist of Belarus Anatoly Yarmolenko and the Syabry band. Tickets are already on sale at the ticket office of the Mogilev Oblast Philharmonics and on kvitki.by. 

Information billboards, bag storage facilities and currency exchange offices will be available at the festival. Volunteers will also help the festival to proceed smoothly. Transport logistics will be made most convenient for festival visitors. Special car parks and camp sites will be set up as well. 

The festival is held on the bank of the Dnieper River, near the bridge that unites two settlements, Alexandria and Kopys, and also two Belarusian regions, Mogilev Oblast and Vitebsk Oblast. It is expected that this year's festival will welcome some 100,000 visitors. The festival is organized by the Belarusian Culture Ministry, the Mogilev Oblast Executive Committee and the Shklov District Executive Committee.
